Labour councillors delighted with Dunvant Meadow playground improvements

The children’s play area at Dunvant Meadow has been improved thanks to investment by the two Labour councillors Louise Gibbard and Jennifer Raynor.

The councillors have installed four new pieces of play equipment – a see-saw, a basket swing, two springers and a brand new goal and basketball area.

The new play equipment has been paid for through Swansea Council’s £1m play fund and the councillors’ community budget.

“These items of play equipment were the things that local families said they would like to see at the playground and we have been very happy to be able to supply them,” said Cllr Gibbard.

“I think it is vital to be able to provide these facilities especially at a time when people are coming out of Covid lockdown, and getting out and about in the fresh air is vital.”

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies (cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism), Cllr Louise Gibbard, Cllr Jennifer Raynor, Cllr Andrew Stevens (cabinet member for business improvement and performance) by the new goal and basketball area.

Cllr Raynor added: “We are delighted to have received the funding for this equipment on Dunvant Meadow. In addition, we will soon be seeing a brand new MUGA (multi use games area) installed in Dunvant Park. All part of Swansea Council’s programme of improving play facilities for children.”
